When Michael Clarke Duncan suddenly died earlier in the year, he still had a lot of projects that he was attached to appear in. And one of the most high profile ones was Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, where he would have reprised his role as Manute from the original. Now The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that 24 alum and Allstate Insurance spokesman, Dennis Haysbert, will replace Duncan in the role.

"Manute is a character that has been part of the heart of the Sin City tales, and the late Michael Clarke Duncan beautifully established that role onscreen," director Robert Rodriguez and Sin City creator, Frank Miller, said in a statement on the site. "We could not tell the story of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For without Manute and are thrilled to welcome Dennis Haysbert to the cast."

Haysbert is usually known for playing very calm and collected characters, so it will be interesting to see him channel such a vicious role like that of Manute. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For will hit theaters on October 4, 2013.
