If you live by an actual brick-and-mortar Blockbuster store you should swing by soon to check out its latest product offerings: mobile phones.
The rental chain has failed to keep up with Netflix, but the Dish Network has been working to revive the brand with rental deliveries and instant streaming. In addition to new distribution methods, Dish chairman and co-founder Charlie Ergen says phones have been the focus of the retail chain since his company acquired it in April 2011.
Blockbuster already sells smartphones on its website. Now, according to Bloomberg, it will also do so in its 850 existing retail locations. So the next time you're in the market for a cell phone, Mr. Ergen hopes you think blue instead of going to Best Buy, RadioShack, or Walmart.
Whatever works at this point, right?
