Director: John D. Hancock
Stars: Sam Elliott, Cloris Leachman, Rutanya Alda, Abe Vigoda
Shitty Gift Equivalent: A worn leather belt (because that's the only way we connected with our emotionally distant fathers).
After Jessica's (Rebecca Harrell Tickell) mother dies, her father, played by token cow poke par excellence and mustache king Sam Elliott, grows even more emotionally distant. All of that somehow slowly begins to change when young Jessica finds a wounded reindeer in the woods, who she believes fell from Santa's sleigh.
Believe us, it takes a lot more than a deer in the woods to connect with a repressed, hardass father. He would likely poach it and cook up venison burgers. Perhaps we would bond over how much we appreciate the "game-y taste" as a change of pace from your everyday patties, but that is about the extent of it.
