10 Terrible Crimes Committed Because of Snacks

Where: Vestavia Hills, AL
Snack: Sandwich

Getting locked up for fighting your sibling is worse than any punishment handed down by your parents. 22-year-old Demarcus Peoples and 20-year-old Brittany Peoples were arrested following an argument that escalated to a fight, all over a sandwich. The younger Peoples says she left a sandwich in the refrigerator, and her brother ate it without remorse. When she approached him about it, he allegedly unloaded a barrage of blows upon her.

Demarcus Peoples claimed that his sister ran into his room berating him over the sandwich, then put hands on him after trying to pour shampoo on him. Clearly she was trying to wash him of his sins. Deputies were called to their home; both were arrested and charged with third degree domestic violence. Both refused medical attention.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Randy Christian had a sense of humor about the situation: "That must have been one good sandwich. I bet when Demarcus ate it he never dreamed it would be the catalyst to jail," he said. "I can just see his sister snapping when she realized her sandwich had been eaten. I completely understand that."

Snack: Halloween candy

After being accused of stealing and hiding his younger sister's Halloween candy, a teenager repeatedly punched his father. 18-year-old Christopher McGeary was arrested after allegedly threatening his father, saying, "If you swear at me again, I’ll punch your face out." He made good on his promise, and it cost him.

McGeary pummeled his father to the point of a nose bleed, laceration, and swelling. Gregory McGeary was treated for his injuries at a local hospital, and the younger McGeary was charged with simple assault and harassment. 

But what happened to the candy?

Snack: Halloween candy

The violence in Chicago has been well documented. Still, a fatal stabbing over Halloween candy remains difficult to process. 55-year-old Ledell Peoples was reportedly so angry over a missing bag of Halloween candy that he stabbed 49-year-old Maria Adams multiple times. He was arrested and originally charged with attempted murder and aggravated domestic battery, but the charges were upgraded to first degree murder after Adams passed.

Snack: Candy

Waka Flocka Flame's friend and Brick Squad Monopoly member Slim Dunkin was allegedly killed last year over a piece of stolen candy. Witnesses say that Dunkin, born Mario Hamilton, took a piece of candy from another man while inside of an Atlanta recording studio. An argument led to blows, eventually escalating to gunfire. Dunkin was shot once in the chest.

He was later pronounced dead at Grady Hospital.

Where: San Diego, CA
Snack: PB&J

Two homeless men found homes—a hospital and jail, respectively—after a fight over a peanut butter and jelly sandwich turned violent. During the altercation, one of the men was stabbed in the head with a pen. He was taken to the hospital, while his attacker was taken into custody. No word on who got to finish the sandwich.

Snack: Kool-Aid

It's cold in the D, even during the summer. Two men couldn't even cool off over a cold beverage, as they got into an argument over who was better at making Kool-Aid. They both pulled out weapons and opened fire on each other. Unfortunately, they missed and struck two innocent bystanders. Thankfully, no one was killed.

Snack: Beer

A store owner, whose business had been the victim of several burglaries, ended up behind bars after opening fire on the man robbing his store. Gurminder Parmar obtained a firearm after being robbed at gunpoint, and when 21-year-old Christopher Driggers attempted to steal a case of beer, Parmar put a bullet in his shoulder.

The bullet didn't stop Driggers who sprinted out of the store with the beer. Police found him several blocks later, and though he admitted his crime, he isn't the one who got arrested. Police say there is no evidence to suggest that Driggers was armed, and the district attorney's office would have to decide whether or not to file charges against him.

Parmar was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Snack: Cheetos

St. Louis has a nasty reputation as far as crime goes, but violence over Cheetos is just outrageous. 42-year-old Roger Wilkes was fatally stabbed following a heated argument with 49-year-old David Scott over a bag of Cheetos. When things got past words, the aggressor whipped out a folding knife and buried it in the victim's chest.

The suspect was arrested at the scene, where the murder weapon was found.

Snack: Egg salad

62-year-old Harry Johnson was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault after choking a teenager out over an egg salad sandwich. Johnson apparently snapped on the kid because he wouldn't give the sandwich up. The nerve of him, right?

The teen told police that Johnson choked him until he nearly threw up. Regardless, Johnson pleaded not guilty to the charge. It's like Homer wringing Bart's neck come to life...

Snack: Cheetos

Sibling beef is common (at a certain age), but there's no excuse for beating your little sister unconscious over Cheetos. (Also, Cheetos again? Really?) After returning to the apartment that she shares with her 10-year-old sister, 23-year-old Deby Mejia snapped at the sight of the girl eating Cheetos. Mejia allegedly beat her sister with an extension cord, then slammed her head into the ground until she passed out.

Mejia was forced to look after her sister when their mother was deported to Honduras in 2006. She admitted to police that she never loved her sister and resented her birth. She was arrested and charged with child abuse, but still feels zero remorse.

She's far too old to be jealous of her younger sister.
