Fox News: Play as a Terrorist in Modern Warfare 2
Talking Heads: Jon Christensen, Jim Steyer
Air Date: November 12, 2009
Reasons Why It's Dumb: Calling upon the world's most random defender of video games while refusing to recognize the complexity of Call of Duty's No Russian level.
Sure, at first glance it might be hard to understand what's going on in the infamous Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 airport scene, but good journalism dictates that you inform yourself before calling for the game's makers to be tried for supporting terrorism. Not once does either the host or guest Jim Steyer recognize that the scene is played to show the horrors of war, or the fact that players have the option to skip it altogether.
Fox' choice to call upon the stuttering owner of a fanblog rather than a genuine industry expert (no offence, Jon) speaks volumes about their commitment to legitimately fair debates. I'm not suggesting that it was impossible for Jon to combat the allegations made against the game, or that the owner of a fan blog couldn't have done so, but if you're going to try and claim to be "fair and balanced" you might want to try getting someone a little more prominent in the games industry to speak on their behalf.
