There's been a collective air of sadness since the news of Hostess's liquidation spread, but all hope is not lost. It's possible that the owner of Pabst Brewing Co. will make a bid to purchase all Hostess brands. Connecticut-based private equity firm C. Dean Metropoulos and Co. has been considering the move ever since Hostess announced that it might shut down. Daren Metropolous says, "We've analyzed this opportunity for a few years now."

The firm has acquired other struggling brands in the past, including Chef Boyardee and Bumble Bee Tuna. In 2010, they bought Pabst for $250 million. It hasn't been confirmed that they'll make a bid, but C. Dean Metropoulos and Co. has certainly given Hostess fans a bit of hope.
