Bad news, American Chopper fans: EW is reporting that, after ten years on the air, the series is set to end its run on the Discovery Channel.
The show, which is one of Discovery's most popular, has been canceled before - it premiered in 2002 and ran on Discovery until 2008, when it was then transferred to sister channel TLC. There, the series ran for another two years before behind-the-scenes drama between the two stars, Paul Senior and Junior, caused TLC to cancel the show. When the two made up, TLC re-ordered the series, and it switched back to Discovery where it has remained until now.
Does this mean its newest cancellation might not be for good as well? It's hard to say, according to executive producer Craig Piligian, who spoke to EW after the news broke. "American Chopper was cancelled before and we came back even stronger," he said. "It’s been a resilient, powerful show. Right now they’re telling me it’s cancelled. I can only comment: 'Who knows what the future holds.'"
For now, the series will end with a four-way bike build-off special, The Revenge, on December 11. Are you sad to see this show go?
