Some hackers take their love of film a bit too far. Dressing up as the anti-hero from V for Vendetta, a Washington State University student hacked into over two dozen classroom video projectors to broadcast a pre-recorded message that played every hour which criticized the school's IT department and railed against squirrels on campus ("they're just rodents that eat, drink, and breed"). The hacker informed instructors that they could stop the video by accessing a batch file left on the AV servers. Executive Director Darin Watkins called the stunt “childish,” stating, “What may have been seen as cute and clever years ago really doesn’t get that kind of reaction today.” Sure it doesn’t.
