Johnson was the first black model to appear on Vogue and the French edition of Elle magazine in 1974 and she is considered one of the most influential people of the 20th century in fashion. She is currently the star of her reality TV show, Beverly's Full House, where she tries to make amends with her daughter, Anansa Sims, the plus-sized model.
