Square Mobile Payments Arrive at Starbucks

A new way to pay for frappuccinos.

Square and Starbucks' $25 million deal kicks off today, with 7,000 Starbucks locations nationwide beginning to use the mobile payments service.

Customers with Square's Wallet app on their smartphones will be able to pay for their coffee simply by opening the app and holding their phone up to a barcode reader. Advanced Square services, like being able to start a tab at a specific Starbucks and pay just by telling the cashier your name, will roll out later down the line.
