Year: 1993

System: NES-101

The Legacy: Oh, you think we forgot about the NES-101? The Nintendo Entertainment System 101 (or NES2, for short) received a short-lived re-release two years after the Super Nintendo had already debuted for those still clinging desperately to their Nintendos. Note how Nintendo took the curved body of the SNES controller, and simply applied it to an NES controller. The problem?

People don't like change, especially to that which they recently hold sentimental. Also, without the top buttons of the SNES controller, the new, curvier shape was indistinguishable from a dogbone. It was available from October '93 to March '94, and then went off the market.
