In its ongoing effort to basically become CSI, NCIS will be getting another spin-off in the near future. According to Deadline, the new CBS series will be written and executive produced by Shane Brennan - the executive producer of the original NCIS and its first spin-off from 2009, NCIS: LA - and will follow "a small mobile team of agents, who are forced to live and work together, as they crisscross the country solving crimes." The new characters will be introduced in an upcoming two-part episode of NCIS: LA later this season.

Fun fact: NCIS itself is actually a spin-off of JAG, which ran on both NBC and CBS from 1995 to 2005. Spin-offs getting spin-offs! Who wants to bet that it probably won't be long now until every metropolitan city has its own version of the show?
