A former executive producer at Battlefield and Mirror's Edge studio DICE has apparently spilled the beans on the Mirror's Edge sequel that we've been waiting to hear about for years.
"It is general knowledge in the Stockholm dev scene that Mirror's Edge 2 is in production at DICE," tweeted Benjamin Cousins, linking to a Eurogamer article in which EA Games Vice President Patrick Soderlund said, "We don't want to become a Battlefield factory."
What he meant is that the only announced games that DICE is official working on are Battlefield-related. If they really are working on Mirror's Edge 2 as well, then it's straight up baffling that they won't just say so. The last news we heard about the game was a noncommittal "it's on the list" back in July.
On the other hand, a current employee at EA DICE, Stefan Boberg, had the following to say today: "Never trust a man who badmouths and talks down all his ex-employers... but still attempts to gain credibility by association #nohire". It seems he's referring to Cousins, in which case this news might not be accurate after all.
Did the original Mirror's Edge capture you with its stark visuals and unique first-person parkour gameplay? Or do you think DICE should just focus on Battlefield?
