According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC’s upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot just added Brett Dalton to the cast. Dalton will play Agent Grant, a rising star in the organization who is said to be deadly and precise, but lacking in people skills. Coming off his success with The Avengers, the pilot for the show will again be directed by Joss Whedon.

Agent Grant isn’t a member of the organization in the comics, which seems to go along with the other characters said to be on the show that are also original creations. Dalton will be joining other actors on the show, such as Ming-Na, Elizabeth Henstridge, Ian De Caestecker, and Clark Gregg, who will be reprising his Agent Phil Coulson role.
