A few days after it was confirmed that Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart would be returning for X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Hugh Jackman is in negotiations to appear in the film as well. This would add fuel to the speculation that Days of Future Past will include a time travel plot where the casts from First Class and Bryan Singer’s original X-Men films would meet up.

No deal is in place yet, but Jackman has gone on the record to talk about how much he loves the Wolverine character, and perhaps a chance to reunite with Singer would be appealing enough for him to return. Plus, Wolverine played such a huge role in the “Days of Future Past” comic book story that it would be simply blasphemous for him not to appear in the movie. We’ll keep you updated if anything becomes official.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will hit theaters on July 18, 2014.
