Considering how well the first Hotel Transylvania film did in the box office, it should come as no surprise that Sony Pictures Animation is already trying to commission a sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, though the project is still in the early development stages, Sony has already set a release date for September 25th, 2015. No word if the director of the first flick, Genndy Tartakovsky, will be returning for the sequel, as he's busy working on Sony's upcoming Popeye film, which is set for release in 2014.
Hotel Transylvania more than exceeded studio's expectations when it was released this past September, and has since earned roughly $253 million worldwide.
