The process to convert physical books into digital copy can be quite time consuming. Normally, the slow paced-process requires books to be dismantled and scanned page by page. But thanks to the BFS-Auto robot that's all changing.  Developed in the Ishikawa Oku Laboratory at the University of Tokyo, the robot has the ability to safely scan 250 pages per minute.

According to Gizmagthe BFS-Auto flips through books without stopping and uses high-definition, 3D-sensing cameras to scan the pages.

Has the future of e-publishing arrived? We'll soon find out, as the high-speed robot scanner is expected to hit the market in 2013. Check out the BFS-Auto in action in the video above.
