Google today righted one of its most puzzling wrongs. From now on people will be able to purchase movies, TV shows, and music from the Google Play store directly from their Google TV.

Before you ask: No. Unlike, Apple TV, which allows users to purchase contact from iTunes, Google TV didn't cross-pollinate with Google's app and content store. It made zero sense. But, hey the Barclays Center Rome wasn't built in a day.

Ambrarish Kenghe, Google TV product manager, writing on the Google TV blog, said that users will be able to:

Buy or rent content directly through the Google Play Store on Google TV, and purchases you’ve made on other devices will also be automatically available on Google TV. Google Play titles will also be discoverable through our TV & Movies app, which brings recommendations for shows and movies available on live TV and apps like Netflix, Amazon, and now Google Play.

This news should make you very happy if you own a Google TV. It's now a worthwhile alternative to Apple TV and Microsoft's Xbox 360. Finally.
