Twitter has started tests which may eventually phase out the "Favorite" feature on the micro-blogging site. The Next Web reported that a "Like" and "Star" feature is being tested with a small group of users.

This is not the first time Twitter has toyed with changing its "Favorite" button. According to All Things D , before the feature launch in 2008, it was very close to being called "Thanks."

Details are limited on the the purpose of "Like" and "Star" so it is unknown if this experiment is a test or slow roll-out. The Next Web reached out to Twitter but it declined to comment on the possible feature. Should Twitter leave the "Favorite" button untouched or is it time for change?
