As expected, it looks like the Liam Neeson-starring Taken 2 is off to a great start in the domestic box office. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has already earned $1.5 million in midnight showings alone, the best numbers since The Dark Night Rises midnight release back in July. Early predictions put the film on track to pull in about $35 million or more this weekend, which is likely to put it at the #1 spot in the box office.

The first Taken film, released in 2009, earned $226.8 million worldwide, and opened to $24.7 million.
