According to a new report in Fortune, Apple is planning to send out invites to a special press event on October 10, with said event to take place on Oct. 17. On the agenda? The long-rumored "iPad Mini," which Apple has been expected to launch in time for the holiday shopping season.
Fortune cites an unnamed "major Apple investor" in the report, who seems to confirm that the Cupertino company does indeed have something imminent up its sleeve. Press invites are always the first step in an Apple product launch, followed by a staged event and demo with media and a rollout to retail within weeks.
Fortune speculates that the iPad Mini (or whatever it ends up being called) could hit stores as soon as November 2.
