It's been a quiet few months since the announcement of the streaming movie service formed by a partnership between Redbox and Verizon. That ends today as the duo have signed its first studio partner: Warner Bros. In addition to streaming, the deal includes a 28-day delay for availability of its DVD titles. Netflix on the other hand has a 56-day delay for DVD titles.

Details such as pricing and availability is still limited on Redbox Instant by Verizon. Warner Bros. Home Video President Ron Sanders did, however, tell the Wall Street Journal that "a good, strong selection of Warner titles," have been included in the Redbox deal.

Redbox Instant is currently under internal beta testing. The service is rumored to offer video-on-demand and electronic sell-through of new releases.

Is this deal a sign that Redbox Instant can be a strong competitor for Netflix and Amazon Instant Video?
