Two prison guards in American Samoa were suspended after allowing prisoners to escape so they could go on unsupervised beer runs (because no corrections officer wants to be the "uncool" prison guard). When police found beer in one of the inmates' cells, they began investigating how prisoners were acquiring alcohol.

A prisoner told investigators that he was buying beer for another inmate, and that he bought chips and cookies for one of the guards that allowed him to leave. One of the prisoners that the guards released is serving 40 months for attacking a man with a machete (it's not a big deal though, they had an honor system).
