North Carolina Woman Arrested for Tattooing 11-Year-Old Daughter

Common sense should've taken over. But it didn't.

Part of a parent's job is knowing what's inappropriate; this makes Odessa Clay a failure as a parent. Using her own tools, the North Carolina mother tattooed a small heart on her 11-year-old daughter's shoulder, all because the girl asked for it. It's imperative that parents learn the importance of the word "no" early on.

Clay told police that she didn't know it was illegal to tattoo someone under the age of 18, even if a parent (her, in this case) granted permission. The tatted-up Clay suspects that a former in-law ratted her out to police.
