In news that should come as a relief to people's junk everywhere, the TSA has begun phasing out the most invasive models of the 3D body scanners it uses at major airports across the country. In their place are a new breed of low-radiation scanners that produce only a cartoonish rendering of the subject, rather than the life-like "hello there" renderings that left little to the imagination and had become the standard.

The TSA has already implemented the new scanners at airports in Boston, LA, Chicago, Orlando and JFK in New York. The old full-frontal scanners aren't being put out to pasture, though. Instead they're being moved to airports in smaller cities. Baby steps, we suppose.
