Space doesn't strike me as the most hospitable place we could spend our days.

A nine minute teaser trailer of the new Mass Effect: Paragon Lost anime is making the rounds this morning, and we can't decide what's worse for the human race.

Being devoured alive by alien hounds, crash landing in burning fuselage, executions like it was Saigon in 1977, or having Freddie Prinze Jr. as the representative for the entire human species all seem to be a three way tie for last in our book.

FUNimation is releasing the film stateside and they had this to say about Mass Effect: Paragon Lost:

Mass Effect: Paragon Lost is the prequel to the highly-anticipated Mass Effect 3 and follows the early career of Alliance Marine, James Vega (Freddie Prinze, Jr.). Vega leads an elite Special Forces squad into battle against a mysterious alien threat known as The Collectors. Stationed at a colony in a remote star system, Vega and his soldiers must protect the civilians from a ruthless invasion determined to capture the population for unknown purposes.”

We don't know how to feel about an entire plot being carried by James Vega. One of the most defining characteristics of the series is Shepard. Our opinions about Vega lean a little towards the bro persuasion, but we will have to see what happens when the anime is released. What do you think of the teaser?
