It doesn't matter how realistic a Halloween costume is, you should never mistake a 9-year-old girl dressed as a skunk for an actual skunk. Over the weekend in Western Pennsylvania, a girl wearing a black hat and costume with a white tassel down the middle was shot by a male relative with a shotgun. Apparently, he thought he had just seen the largest skunk known to man.
Police say the man wasn't intoxicated, so that excuse can't even be used to rationalize his behavior. The girl was reportedly alert when she was taken to Pittsburgh hospital. Police haven't revealed whether or not her shotgun-toting relative will be charged. Regardless, family reunions will be difficult from now on.
