Remember when Girls premiered on HBO, and everyone was sort of pissed off that it was basically #whitegirlproblems the TV show? Remember when creator/star Lena Dunham responded to the criticisms on NPR's Fresh Air and said, "I always want to avoid rendering an experience I can't speak to accurately"? Well, nevermind, because according to Vulture, Dunham is now experiencing major "heartbreak at the idea that [Girls] would make anyone feel isolated," and is promising to make the show more diverse. Because, apparently, she's just realized her show is set in New York City.
"All I want to do is make women feel excited and included by the show," she said, adding that she is responding to viewers "who are women of color who want to see themselves reflected on screen." So you can all put the pitchforks down now.
