The MTA recently released this stunning video of flood damage at the South Ferry station in lower Manhattan (near Battery Park, which faces the Statue of Liberty). Water at the top level of the station is a foot high, and the lower level, where the tracks and tunnels are, is completely submerged.

Many other stations, several linking Manhattan to Brooklyn, have reportedly endured equal or lesser damage. Mayor Bloomberg and the MTA are projecting that it could take several days, and a lot of pumps, to get the system back to normal again.
