The frighteningly high winds of Hurricane Sandy have left an 80-ton crane dangling from about 1,000 feet above West 57th Street. The crane is attached to One57, the newest and tallest luxury high-rise in Manhattan. The $1.7 billion building sits 90 stories above the city, and people living between on West 57th Street between 6th and 7th Street have been advised to remain off the streets for safety reasons.
