Florida Gov. Rick Scott just can't get right. After a recent outbreak of meningitis, Scott thought that he was giving out the phone number for the Florida Department of Health's toll free 24-hour meningitis hotline. As it turns out, he gave residents the number to a phone sex operator.
NPR-member radio station WUSF caught the mistake first, after readers informed them that the phone number that Scott read out loud in a cabinet meeting took callers to a female voice who thanked callers for hitting her up "on her anniversary." The governor's office issued a statement saying that Scott had confused a few numbers, but the correct phone number was up on the Department of Health's website.
This meningitis outbreak has reportedly spread to 10 states, and claimed 12 lives.
