A debate over politics got quite heated this week, and we aren't talking about the first Presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. 74-year-old Peter Schwartz was arrested for slapping his wife on Tuesday night during an argument about the upcoming election in their Hollywood, FL home. Schwartz told a judge that his wife told him, "You're like my mother, you like Romney. That means I don't like you." Apparently, insults about his mother and political affiliation were too much for him to handle.

After yelling at his wife, he slapped her and pushed her to the ground. During a court appearance on Wednesday, Schwartz cried, telling the judge, "I love my wife more than my own life, your honor." He was ordered to stay at least 500 feet away from his wife until the case is handed over to another judge. Politics is like sports—it brings out the absolute worst in people.
