Good news: Treme will be back for a fourth and final season on HBO some time next year. Bad news? It will only be five episodes. The news was posted on the show's official Facebook page yesterday, with the addition that the final season would begin filming on November 5th.
This news comes not too long after series creators David Simon and Eric Overmeyer revealed how difficult it was for them to even get renewed for season three. "HBO, upon viewing the 10 [season-three episodes] that we gave them and what we’ve done, they want to see the end of the story. They fought very hard to give us half a loaf. We’re going to take it and run," Simon said of the renewal.
Season three is currently airing on HBO.
