Despite Tragic Shooting, New Jersey Woman Continued to Prepare Meals for Husband

Authorities believe that Fredericka Rosa of Pemberton Township, NJ was suffering from dementia when she killed her husband, then continued to make him dinner for two days. The 77-year-old Rosa allegedly shot and killed 79-year-old Valpa C. Rosa in July, but continued preparing meals for him for the next 48 hours. She even called family members to ask where her husband was when he didn't show up for dinner. One of their children called the police, which led to the discovery of the body.

The Rosa's children told NBC10 that their mother suffered from Alzheimer's disease and dementia, and that she was abused by her husband for years. "I understand why my mama did it," said Valpa Rosa, Jr.Rosetta Rosa said her father drove her mother "insane." The two had been married for 54 years.

Fredericka Rosa was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon. She is currently free on $150,000 bail.
