A teacher in the Chineseprovince of Zhejiang has been fired after an image was posted on the social networking site Weibo showing the smiling teacher lifting a screaming student up by his ears. 20-year-old Yan Yanhong posted over 700 images, all taken by another teacher, online. Other pictures showed children with their mouths taped shut and their bands bound to desks to make them sit still.
It gets worse. Another picture showed a child that had been dumped into a trash can. Yanhong attempted to explain her actions, saying that the children "were just having fun." Investigators learned that Yanhong was not qualified for her job, but had been hired due to a teaching shortage.
A lack of qualifications has nothing to do with a sense of right and wrong.
