Tragedy struck in Santa Fe, CA when a Bumble Bee Foods employee died after being cooked inside of an industrial oven known as a "steamer machine." The body of 62-year-old Jose Melena was discovered around 7 a.m. Thursday morning, and it's still unclear how Melena ended up inside of the oven. The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health has launched an investigation.
Melena had worked at the plant, which is located roughly 15 miles southeast of Los Angeles, for six years. Bumble Bee Foods spokesman Pat Menke offered condolences to Melena's family, and all operations at the canning facility will remain suspended until tomorrow.
