California Woman Sentenced to 17 Years in Prison for Stabbing Ex in Church Parking Lot

49-year-old Elizabeth Villanueva of Orange County has been sentenced to 17 years in prison after stabbing her ex-boyfriend in a church parking lot in 2010. Villanueva reportedly hid in her ex's Mercedes, then stabbed him in the head and shoulders with an ice pick after he began driving. After crashing into a tree, the man managed to escape. Witnesses restrained Villanueva until police arrived.

The man survived the brutal attack, and Villanueva pleaded guilty to one count of attempted murder, domestic battery, and aggravated assault. Though they had broken up at the time of the attack, Villanueva and the man were still living together.
