Hurricane Sandy ravaged the East Coast, and then humans went and did their part to make things worse in Coney Island. Mega Aid Pharmacy employees returned to work yesterday morning to find that not only had the store been damaged by the storm, but people had broken in and rifled through over 10,000 pharmaceuticals. The most popular stolen good: Prescription medication.
The store's manager, 27-year-old Stan Gutkin, said he's uncertain when the store will be operational again. "This breaks the business. I don't even know where to start," he said. People in the neighborhood said that vandals also stole from banks and other stores with valuables.
