Astro has announced new and improved 2013 editions of its benchmark-setting A40 gaming headset and MixAmp Pro, and if these things are half as good as the Astro A50 Wireless (and we're sure they are), then you audiophiles are in for a treat.

The 2013 Edition Astro A40 headset features a new Quick Disconnect cable, which now plugs directly into the headset. This reportedly makes it more durable and easier to use at the same time. In addition, Astro claims the new headset contains the best-sounding tech they've ever produced, with "re-tuned drivers and enclosures" that provide "improved low-end response and less distortion at high volumes."

The new 2013 MixAmp Pro, meanwhile, features a new audio-out jack for streaming voice and game sounds out from the amp itself. New custom audio profiles, a smaller form factor, and an improved optical audio port round out the changes.

The 2013 Astro A40 and MixAmp Pro are available now for $249.99. What do you think? In the market for a new gaming headset?
