If history tries to teach us anything it's that most of it is covered in blood and written by the winners. Makes a certain amount of sense that Connor's back-story in Assassin's Creed III is about as accurate as history gets.
Following Connor's path from a boy to an assassin, the trailer gives us a pretty solid look at why Connor finds himself fighting the war he that he is. Joining forces with the colonists to battle the British, I'm sure seemed like a good idea at the time.
