Walmart, the largest retailer in the U.S., will no longer sell Amazon's Kindle devices. Earlier this year, the country's second largest retailer, Target, ended its relationship with the Amazon. Walmart has now followed suit, thought it will continue to sell the Kindle's major competitor, the Apple iPad.
Walmart sent a memo to its store managers regarding the new policy:
"We have recently made the business decision to not carry Amazon tablets and eReaders beyond our existing inventory and purchase commitments. This includes all Amazon Kindle models current and recently announced."
Even though it will lose sales during the upcoming holiday season, Walmart's decision was made in regards to its long-term online merchandising strategy, which Amazon dominates. Kindles are still available on Amazon.com or electronic retailers Best Buy or Radio Shack.
