Boston Dynamics has a new robotic quadruped, this time taking its inspiration from the noble steeds of the animal kingdom. As demoed in the video above, the robot can gallop across a wide range of terrains and even follow a leader.
It may seem silly to model a utilitarian/military robot after a horse (and we'll admit the video did make us laugh), but the robo-steed comes with distinct advantages. Boston Dynamics says it can carry 400 lbs of cargo over 20 miles of difficult terrain without needing to refuel.
