Known In The '70s For: Starring in The Last Picture Show (1971), The Heartbreak Kid (1972), and Taxi Driver (1976)

Memphis-born Shepherd was a successful model when one of her Glamour covers caught Polly Platt's eye. Polly Platt was the then-wife of Peter Bogdanovich, who had been searching for a young actress to portray Jacy in The Last Picture Show (1971). The role kicked off Shepherd's acting career. Although she made a number of unsuccessful films in the '70s, both The Heartbreak Kid (1972) and Taxi Driver (1976) are classics of the era. She dropped out of show business in the late '70s, but would return with a vengeance in the mid-80s, co-starring with Bruce Willis in the TV series Moonlighting.
