No one and dispute the impact that the Grand Theft Auto series has had on the world. Rockstar Games' iconic title was the first game to truly popularize the concept of an "open world" game. Sure games like World of Warcraft and other MMOs have had open worlds prior, but GTA was different. It's reach was unparalleled selling over 114 million copies. It was also the most successful game to feature a criminal as its hero. The success came with a price though as GTA has had its share of controversy for portraying violence against women, racist content, potty-mouthed language and drug use. Society's demand for sex and violence helped to fuel the franchise's winning streak though we refuse admit it.
