Despite being off the air for more than a decade, Vulture is reporting that Baywatch is getting the big screen treatment courtesy of director, and Reno 9-11! co-creator, Robert Ben Garant. The script for the movie was written by Rescue Me creator Peter Tolan, who has said that his version of the movie would be more of a comedy and wouldn’t follow the serious tone of the show. It isn’t known yet if Garant will revise the script any further now that he’s on the project.

The more pressing question is whether or not the original cast of the show will return for the film. Is Baywatch even worth doing without David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson running in slow motion in all of their middle-aged glory? Hopefully we’ll have our answers soon.
