According to Peter Jackson’s Facebook page, the director has confirmed that a brand-new trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will debut this Wednesday. This upcoming week is significant because it marks the 75th anniversary of the publishing of J.R.R. Tolkien’s original Hobbit book, so it’s only appropriate that this is when our latest look at Jackson’s epic will arrive.

An Unexpected Journey will be the first chapter in Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy, with the next two movies being released in 2013 and 2014. For a movie that will hit theaters in a few short months, we really haven’t seen much footage from it. But as we enter the home stretch before its release, expect to be bombarded with new trailers and TV spots from now until December. And as always, we’ll be sure to have this latest trailer up on the site as soon as it hits the web.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released in theaters on December 14.
