According to Variety, director Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin) has been hired by 20th Century Fox to bring Frankenstein back to life in its upcoming version of the classic monster story. The article doesn’t go into detail on the actual plot of the movie, but we do know that Max Landis (Chronicle) wrote the script for it.

McGuigan will be replacing Shawn Levy (Real Steel) on the film after he dropped out earlier. The studio was even considering bringing in talent like Paul Greengrass and David Yates for the film, but McGuigan ultimately wound up with the gig. McGuigan most recently worked as the director on a few episodes of Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
