According to Newsarama, during the recent 2012 Montreal Comic Book Convention, Patrick Stewart had some very interesting things to say about a possible return to the X-Men film series as Professor X. When asked if he was coming back, Stewart said, “I think there is every possibility.” Later on, Stewart more definitively said, “yes, I’ll be reprising”

These quotes by Stewart don’t mean that James McAvoy won’t reprise the role of Charles Xavier from X-Men: First Class. With the movie being based on the “Days of Future Past” storyline, it’s possible that the film will include both versions of the character through the use of time travel. The X-Men comics have often dealt with alternate pasts, futures, and presents, so the appearance of both a younger and older Xavier would be logical. Think of how J.J. Abrams included both versions of Spock in Star Trek to see how this could unfold.

We’ll know for sure when X-Men: Days of Future Past (rumored title) hits theaters on July 18, 2014.
