After years of delays and false starts, Vulture is reporting that New Line is making an adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan’s DC/Vertigo comic series, Y: The Last Man, a top priority at the studio. The most recent script by Jericho writers Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia pleased studio executives so much that they are now meeting with potential directors for the project. At one point, both Louis Leterrier and D.J. Caruso were attached to the film as directors, but it seems like everything is starting fresh now.
Y: The Last Man follows the exploits of a young man named Yorick Brown who is the only human male left on Earth after a mysterious plague wiped everyone out with a Y chromosome. Along with his pet monkey, Ampersand, who is also male, he travels this estrogen-filled world in search for answers.
