Since casting Lindsay Lohan as the lead in their upcoming Elizabeth Taylor biopic, Liz & Dick, Lifetime has apparently found its niche: Pulling former Disney stars' dreams out of the rubble of Hollywood, gingerly dusting them off, and then giving them a likely badly-produced TV movie that will get a high ratings but critics will roll their eyes at. Business model, check!
But no, seriously, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Miley Cyrus - the former Disney star who, as of late, has mostly just been famous for walking around Los Angeles and chopping off all of her hair - is considering starring in a Bonnie & Clyde miniseries for the network, as Bonnie. This particular series is slated to air on both Lifetime and The History Channel, and is being produced by Smash executive producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan.
This isn't the first time a Bonnie & Clyde remake was mulled over by Hollywood. Back in 2009, Hilary Duff was set to star as Bonnie Parker in the film The Story of Bonnie & Clyde, but was ultimately paid $100,000 to walk away from the role when she got pregnant. Faye Dunaway, who portrayed Bonnie Parker in the 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde was famously critical of Duff's casting, and was quoted as asking, "Couldn't they at least cast a real actress?"
Cyrus is reportedly meeting with directors for the role. Sorry, Faye.
